Honors Graduate in Economics with a second major in Business Administration & Marketing from Connecticut State University U.S.A (Class of 1992). Holds a Diploma in business management from Houston University Texas USA & certified in supply chain management from Cranfield University U.K. Counts twenty-eight years of experience in policy development and process formation to both government and private sector. Specialty knowledge in global supply and value chains and counts hand on experience from factory floor to the global commerce and logistics and distribution systems.

Founder partner of Singapore Shippers’ Academy and the Shippers’ Academy Colombo and is  currently the CEO of the Shippers’ Academy Colombo, consultant logistics/exports to UN International Trade Centre Geneva, currently holds the positions of chairman of the National Exports Strategy on Logistics to the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka and the Director General of Sri Lanka Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Rubber Products and a consultant  to the National Export Strategy to Myanmar through ITC. current Consultant to master card on Public policy for Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Since year 2000 have been actively involved in government policy making and economic reforms in the areas of international business, commerce and logistics, have served in advisory capacity to ministers and ministries in Sri Lanka and have been involved in  drafting legislation including new parliamentary  acts and gazettes of the government of Sri Lanka in related ministries. Have been working with Ministry of Finance and Policy, President’s office on strategic directions on key economic areas, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ministry of Ports and Shipping, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Plantations, Ministry of International Trade and Ministry of Labour and Skills Development. Have worked in partnerships with Board of Investment, Export Development Board, Foreign Affairs and Department of Commerce in promoting and brand/image building of the Sri Lankan government’s vision to be a mega hub in South Asia for trade, tourism, finance and commerce.

An UN-ESCAP certified trainer on global supply chains and logistics. I serve as an independent commerce consultant and a policy advocate for trade and commerce. A former chairman of the Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council & Association of Shipper’s Councils of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan & Sri Lanka (ASCOBIPS), served as the first Secretary General of the Asian Shippers’ Council representing 16 countries in Asia. Has a specialised focus on Indian ocean trade, logistics & shipping. formerly a working group member of the Global Shippers’ Forum UK and the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris, on commercial terms (INCOTERMS)

A regular columnist on daily FT of Sri Lanka, writes to newspapers and international magazines on financial and policy developments. I have made over seventy international presentations around the world as a speaker. Have been involved in the development of the Sri Lanka commercial hub concept since 2013 and customs reforms, export strategy and port and international payment policies. Current serves as a committee member in many private chambers of commerce, developing strategy and lobbying for policy.
